Shiva Yoga is a heated Yoga studio. The Studio has a baseline temp of 85*-90* and the Hot Hatha class temp is 105* The Studio is heated with infrared heaters. These heaters are known for their healing properties and many people have infrared saunas installed in their homes. We now know that heavy metals that have been absorbed into the body at the bone level can be sweated out of the body. Sweat is healing 🙂

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing. Tighter is better than looser, cotton t-shirts feel extra hot & heavy. Bring water with electrolytes & try to hydrate prior to class. Most bodies sweat alot, and this is a good thing!! Infrared heat feels different than other heat & can have a way of sneaking up on a person. Staying hydrated is key.
The body is looser, more open, more flexible and can stretch deeper in a heated studio. Plus, it feels really good on a cold Winter’s day.
